Herbalist Note: The Zhi Gan Cao Tang (Honey-fried licorice decoction) was traditionally used not only for physical issues relating to the heart, but it was also used for psycho-emotional heart issues. This formula is famous in ancient Chinese medicine for use in anxiety, palpitations, heartache and heartbreak. A traditional modification to the formula for emotional use involves the use of trauma herbs such as the Notoginseng, which incidentally looks like a black and blue person; doctrine of signatures. The “Heart Elixir” contains the emotional trauma component. This formula is prepared for physical and emotional heart health. My feeling is, “We could all use some heart medicine at any time.”
