KOTO INTERVIEW: Integrative Medicine Offer Relief to Healthcare System

KOTO INTERVIEW: Integrative Medicine Offer Relief to Healthcare System

Across the county and world, health systems are being stretched thin due to the CV  19 pandemic. While western systems and forms of medicine reach their limits, some are turning to different forms of medicine. In San Miguel County, several practitioners are using integrative medicine to serve the community and support the work of the medical center. Joshua Geetter is a licensed acupuncturist and a clinical and production herbalist. He focuses primarily on Chinese medicine.

“What’s most prescient and efficacious for us right now, especially with ‘shelter in place’ and social distancing would be the herbal medicine, which happens to be the standard of care in the ancient Chinese medicine for epidemiology” says Geetter.

20/21 CARE ACCORDING TO CHINESE MEDICINE

Chinese medical adages say… “You don’t begin digging a well when you are thirsty. You don’t begin to forge a sword when the battle has already begun.”

Over the last 2000 years there have been 320 documented epidemics in China. Because of this, a great deal of knowledge and wisdom has been gained with respect to halting transmission and protecting life.

There is already a great deal that has been written about the new strain of coronavirus; now called “CV  - 19”—but much remains unknown. This virus is challenging public health around the world and people want to be informed. New information is being published on the internet nearly every day, even multiple times per day. For the curious and concerned, the best way to stay informed with reliable up-to-date information is to frequently visit various official websites, such as the WHO and the CDC websites. An excellent short list of such websites appears below at the end of this post.

Viral infections often start with a sore throat, proceed to the respiratory system, and end with a fever. In my 45 years of healing practice, I have found nothing that can compare with essential oils for dealing with these symptoms. Everyone should have the essential oils that we mention herein on hand, before they are infected so they can deal with the infection from the start instead of having to wait a week or so to get them. The sooner you start, the more effective the treatments will be. According to the ancient Chinese adage, Do not wait until you are thirsty before you dig your well,” and “Do not wait until the battle starts before you sharpen your sword.”
